REMODELING HISTORY

 MT. BAKER NEIGHBORHOOD

With its tree lined streets, Olmstead brother designed boulevards, and gracious homes, Mt. Baker is one of the most popular neighborhoods in Seattle. Sitting southeast of the downtown Seattle core, it is the perfect spot to view Lake Washington, Mt. Rainier and the Cascade Mountains. It is a neighborhood of fine old homes, interesting shops and hip restaurants. Enjoy pizza or small Italian bites at Mioposto, sip custom crafted cocktails at The Velvet Elk or enjoy any number of special events at the Mt. Baker Community Club. The Club is said to be the oldest continuously running community club in the U.S. and in addition to holding neighborhood events, it is also available for private parties.

A wide range of outdoor activities are easily accessible. Mt Baker Beach beckons kayakers, swimmers and sun seekers to its sandy shore in the summertime while rowers of all ages cast off from the Mt. Baker Sailing and Rowing Club all year round. Mt Baker Park is host to tennis players and woodland explorers and Lake Washington Boulevard which borders the east side of the Mt Baker neighborhood boasts one of the longest walking/running trails in the city.

In the summer, the Mt. Baker neighborhood plays host to one of Seattle’s biggest community events – the Seafair Hydroplane races which are based at Stan Sayres pits along Lake Washington Boulevard. Additionally, on scheduled Saturdays and Sundays from May through September the boulevard is closed to car traffic in observance of Bicycle Sunday.

The Mt. Baker neighborhood is easily accessible from downtown Seattle or the eastside and with the new transit station getting to the airport is a breeze.

Mt Baker has a true neighborhood feel fueled by community involvement and activities of all kinds from block parties and progressive dinners to book clubs and tennis leagues.  The Mt. Baker neighborhood truly has it all.
